Preston’s VoiceOver Cabana | Episode #15 | Freddie Gateley w/VocalBooth.com

This week on The VoiceOver Cabana, we are talking about sound isolation and studio acoustics.  Before you contemplate your microphone, interface, etc., your studio sound (or lack thereof) should be your first consideration.  No matter how awesome your gear is, a room with poor acoustics will keep your recordings from being as awesome as you (and your gear) are.  So, let’s connect with Freddie Gateley from VocalBooth!  VocalBooth not only creates booths for VO talent, but also addresses sound isolation solutions for a number of other industries.  With this comprehensive experience in acoustics, as well as with Freddie’s background as a musician, we’ll be privy to some unique acoustic wisdom, as well as the “Zen of quiet!”

Episode #011 | Kara Edwards – “Animation VO Pro”

I’m happy to announce the return of “Preston’s VoiceOver Cabana”! The initial episodes have been out there on YouTube for a while. These were designed to answer many of the most common questions I receive from both new and established talent. Now, it’s time for “Cabana…2.0”!

The VoiceOver Cabana has shifted a bit, and will now feature live interviews with luminaries in the VoiceOver ecosystem, as well as those that I think have good info to offer to the VoiceOver Community. Heck, sometimes it’s just going to be someone I think is super interesting and has something fun to share.

Our first episode of this new series of Cabana episodes features one of my favorite people in VO…Kara Edwards! I’ve actually been friends with Kara for longer than either one of us is likely willing to admit. 😉 Her story arc is one of my favorites, and her knowledge of the animation world is worth sharing.

If you’ve ever considered animation as a VO destination in your VO journey…or if you just want to check in for some great conversation…then check out this fun and informative talk with Kara Edwards! Thanks to our sponsors!

The VoiceOver Cabana is brought to you by:

Episode #010 – “Agents & Managers”

This week on the Cabana, we’ll be chatting about Agents & Managers.  This is one of the most commonly broached topics that my students like to discuss.  What is the difference between an agent and a manager? Do you need representation? When are you ready for representation?  What is the best approach to seeking out representation? Stop by the Cabana this week and let’s discuss this element of a voice talent’s marketing recipe!

Episode #9 – “Your Marketing Recipe”

This week on the Cabana, I’m firing up the grill and discussing “Your Marketing Recipe”.  Depending on the phase of your career, experience, state of the industry, etc., the mix (or “recipe”) of resources you utilize should adjust accordingly.  P2P sites/online casting, agents, cold calling, relationship marketing, etc. are all resources available to you. The choice of which resources to utilize, as well as the amount of time you dedicate to each, are unique to you and your goals.  So, stop on by and let’s mix up some marketing ideas and talk about how you can cook up some voiceover success!
