Loopback functionality for easy live internet streaming

There are certain situations, such as podcasting, where you don’t need a ton of inputs but still want great sound and conversion. Steinberg had this in mind when they designed the UR242 with a convenient loopback function specifically for podcasting and other internet streaming activities. Loopback is a common function of most internet streaming programs, when it’s active it merges your mic or any other input signals with the output from your DAW or other playback software and then sends the merged signal back to your computer for great live streaming audio.

Class A D-PRE microphone preamp

Steinberg’s engineers teamed with Yamaha engineers to design the UR242. They used the acclaimed Class A D-PRE design, featuring advanced, inverted Darlington circuits, for an exceptionally smooth and detailed performance. The Steinberg UR242 features two microphone preamplifiers with XLR input and a TRS line level input, so you can easily track line-level instruments like keyboards and drum machines as well as your microphones. Two line level 1/4″ inputs on the back panel let you record two more channels in addition to the preamps, making this a flexible four-channel recording solution.

Amazing analog circuitry

True discrete Class A preamp circuitry makes the Steinberg UR242 stand out, particularly among USB audio interfaces at its price point. Wait till you hear the astonishing sound quality the UR242 has to offer! These preamps take desktop recording to a whole new level. You also get phantom power to run your favorite condenser microphones. And to make sure you have consistent and ample power for phantom powering mics and for recording stability, Steinberg added a five volt DC USB port to the UR242 so that you can connect any standard USB power.

Includes Cubase AI recording software

Get started making music just as soon as you pull your Steinberg UR242 out of the box. You get powerful Cubase AI software included, for up to 32 audio tracks and up to 48 MIDI tracks. Based on the same core technologies as the Steinberg Cubase advanced music production system, Cubase AI offers great tools for composition, recording, editing and mixing. Cubase AI also comes with VST effects, VST3 plug-ins, and tons of drum loops. It’s an excellent way to step into the production power of Cubase.
