Detailed Information

The Ocean Way Audio Pro2A delivers what every engineer at Sweetwater wants: big-monitor performance in a compact 2-way near/midfield speaker that delivers the serious punch and air you’d expect from a much larger speaker. To achieve this, multiple Grammy-winning engineer/producer and iconic studio owner Allen Sides employed some outside-the-box thinking. The curvilinear aluminum-cone bass/midrange driver, for instance, crosses over to the tweeter at a higher frequency than in other compact 2-way monitors, allowing greater distortion-free dynamic range, efficiency, and SPL capabilities and a uniform frequency response of 35Hz to 25kHz. The design allows for flexibility of placement in the room with a uniform frequency response of 35Hz to 25kHz and 110dB maximum SPL. Rear-panel room response controls let you easily optimize the speaker for your acoustic environment. The system is tri-amplified with OWA’s state-of-the-art 250-watt bi-amplification, which provides analog plus digital inputs accepting 24-bit/192kHz data streams.

Solid bass, superior imaging, and a broad sweet spot

The Pro2A’s sleek, aesthetically appealing trapezoidal-profile cabinet benefits from time alignment, reduced baffle reflections, and materials designed to minimize low-frequency resonance, resulting in solid bass, superior imaging, and a broad sweet spot. Its port is optimized to increase the woofer’s low-frequency extension and SPL capacity. The Pro2A’s HF driver is a high-definition silk fabric dome type with superior mechanical linearity. The geometrically reinforced aluminum-cone LF driver has a vented cast-aluminum chassis for optimal strength and low compression. Combined with the cabinet, the system offers minimal reflection, high resolution, and low listening fatigue over the complete audio spectrum.

Ocean Way: a legacy of unerring sonic quality

In 1976, recording engineer/producer Allen Sides started leasing the former United Western Studios in Hollywood, Calif., originally built in 1952 by legendary engineer/audio designer Bill Putnam. In 1988, he purchased the property and changed the name to Ocean Way Recording, and he also added Record One in Sherman Oaks to the Ocean Way family. In 1997, he opened Ocean Way Nashville on Music Row. Over the years, Sides personally worked on over 1,000 albums by top artists like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Phil Collins, and Alanis Morissette; and it is estimated that albums recorded in Mr. Sides’s studios have sold in excess of one billion copies. Housed in a 16,000-square-foot beachfront villa at the exclusive Eden Rock Resort on the Caribbean island paradise of Saint Barthélemy, Ocean Way St. Barths was created to provide the ultimate creative environment for this level of clientele.

Mr. Sides, who has been building audiophile speakers since he was a teenager, designed the unerringly accurate monitors used in all his control rooms and provided custom designs for many of his clients’ studios. The Ocean Way brand had become synonymous with uncompromising sonic quality, and Ocean Way Audio was the next logical step, enabling studios of all sizes to avail themselves of this remarkable technology. Elevate your studio to world class with Ocean Way Audio Pro2A powered studio monitors.
